The guiding concept for the Calusa Commons is a way for those of us who live near Crooked Lake in Central Florida to join together to make a better way for all of us.  The name Calusa comes from the old name for Crooked Lake.  The Calusa once ranged  through all of Central Florida and many features are named after them.  A Commons was originally a central area people could meet and trade with each other.
