As if we do not have enough things to worry about: Rising gas prices, Underwear Bombers, crop freezing temperatures, and Simon is leaving Idol to start a DIFFERENT talent show.  Ugh!  Now the very earth is trying to swallow us UP!

We had two sinkholes open up last night on US 27.  The first one is about half a mile north of Fatboys.  It takes up all of the northbound side and is a real mess.  The second sinkhole is about a mile north of the second, right in front of the entrance to Heath Corp.  This one may be more troublesome because it is in the median.  The edges of the sinkhole may extend all the way across US 27.

Sinkhole by Heath Corp

There is no telling how long this will take to repair.  Crews are working around the clock, but some things take time.  US 27 is a major roadway, so it will be getting rapid attention.  Unfortunately, these were not the only sinkholes to appear this weekend.  One opened down by CR 630.  (If you go down US 27 to the road to Frostproof, take it.  It is just south of the next intersection, where the road meets CR 630 on a curve).

And it continues: Another sinkhole opened on I-4

What a way to start a new year.
